This Kol Tribe is from the Proto-Australoid, Kol People’s mostly speaking Language is Kol language. The people of Kol tribe have been included in the 32nd tribe by the Jharkhand government in 2003. Kol people are mainly settled in Deoghar, Dumka, Giridih,Goda, Pakur, Sahebganj, Jamtra and Dhanbad districts of Jharkhand.

Among the people of Kol tribe, the marriage of any couple is conducted by the uncles of that family also. In Central India, this work is done by Baiga (priest).

Among the people of Kol tribe, whenever a person dies, they bury him and a stone is placed on his grave at the place where he is buried.

Kol Language

Kol language which many people do not know about it. Today Kol language is spoken in some districts of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Kol (Munda) is the mother tongue of other languages. The dialect of Kol (Munda) language is Mundari, Ho and the name of the script of Kol language is Warang Chiti.

Kol Tribals call it “Poy or Paila” in  their mother tougue language “Kol Bhasha” (Kol Language) some call the smaller one as Pai and the first one as Paila

Singhbonga is the supreme deity of Kol tribals. Singbonga is called the creator of the universe. Singbonga is made up of two words where Singh means Sun and Bonga means God. This is worshiped by the Kol tribals so that happiness, peace and prosperity comes in their lives. Singhbonga worshiped is not only by Kol people but also by other tribal people of Kol-Ho, Bhumij, Santhal, Munda, Asur, Birhor, etc. tribes. Singhbonga worshiped celebrate today in many states of India including Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal.
